At university, I both accompanied the choir on piano and sang in the middle voices.
Rehearsing together
I have always had a good ear for pitch, but an inner part asks for something more: keeping your own line while other melodies sound all around you. In rehearsals, I listened across the choir and adjusted my volume and tone without losing my part.
I still think of those rehearsals when working with others: know what you are responsible for, and keep listening to the people around you.

From rehearsal to performance
Alongside regular rehearsals, I took part in university choir performances. The photograph below shows the 33rd “December 9” Choral Music Festival at Renmin University of China.
